Over 75 Years of First-Class Service in Toronto

Our_History.jpgWhen Harry L. Bach opened the doors of Atlas Service Co. in 1932 on Toronto's Yorkville Avenue, he never could have guessed his small heating servicing company would one day become one of central Ontario's largest and most respected heating, cooling, and indoor air quality specialists.

Harry's original vision was likely more immediate: jobs were hard to come by, and he needed to rely on his trade skills to ensure reliable employment through the looming Great Depression that would continue to grip North America for most of the next decade. While families were giving up their luxuries, home heating remained essential.

With his work ethic and dedication to providing reliable, friendly service, Harry and his wife Grace built Atlas from the ground up. In 1949, General Electric entrusted Atlas with a contract to service its installed equipment in Toronto. And in 1950, Atlas installed its first central air conditioner!

A New Era: "Atlas Air"

Harry passed the torch to his son Robert (Bob) Bach in 1967. Bob was a recent engineering graduate, and he used his engineering knowledge and skills to bring a new level of innovation and technological excellence to the industry. The company changed its name to "Atlas Air" and moved to a larger building on the border of Etobicoke and Mississauga, where it captured the booming suburban market.

Bob's engineering expertise allowed him to specialize in customized installations of the most cutting-edge heating and cooling products in the industry.

In the early 1980s, Bob met a fellow engineer, Roger Grochmal. Bob's philosophy and approach - to create innovative solutions to heating and cooling challenges while always providing exceptional service - instantly appealed to Roger.

In 1986, as Roger was looking for a new career opportunity, Bob Bach was looking for someone to buy Atlas Air.

With Roger Grochmal as President and CBO of AtlasCare, the company continued its passion for customer care and first-class service, and was able to triple in size by 2005. In March 2006, AtlasCare moved to a brand new 20,000 sq ft facility on the Mississauga/Oakville border. As the company celebrates over 75 years in the industry, AtlasCare remains poised for continued growth and opportunity.

"Much like Harry Bach did 75 years ago, we intend to stay at the forefront of our industry and to bring our customers responsible, intelligent, innovative solutions that will ensure good health, safety, and comfort," says Roger.
